Grupo Pi\u00f1ero, announces the results of its environmental policy registered between January and April. And the main measures that the company is implementing to reduce plastic usage, with the goal of eliminating it entirely.<\/h6>\n

Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts revealed that by 2020, the brand will ban the use of single-use plastic at all of its all-inclusive properties in the Caribbean and Spain.<\/p>\n

The initiative is part of a greater corporate social responsibility under the direction of Grupo Pi\u00f1ero. Some milestones hit during the first four months of this year include the following:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Reduced energy consumption per guest per stay by 8%
\n\u2022 Reduced water consumption per guest per stay by 2%
\n\u2022 Saved 40% more recyclable waste when compared to the same period in 2017<\/p>\n

Grupo Pi\u00f1ero also contributes to the improvement of biodiversity. Through its collaboration with different associations and entities based on the destinations in which it operates. Among them the Eco-Bahia Foundation, in Mexico; the Museum of the Whales of Samana, in the Dominican Republic, or the Botanical Garden of Santo Domingo, also located in the Caribbean nation.<\/p>\n

The hotel chain commits to reducing plastic usage, substituting disposable plastic cups for reusable cups and plastic straws for biodegradable ones. These changes are now in effect at Bahia Principe\u2019s four properties in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Furthermore it has also been implemented on a corporate level, at all of Grupo Pi\u00f1ero offices. Consequently initiating a plan to reduce plastic usage in January, with the goal of banning all plastics by the end of the year.<\/p>\n
