InNews

Bahia Principe Golf, part of Grupo Piñero, has established itself as a leader in this constantly growing industry, standing out in the offer for sports tourism in the Dominican Republic.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur), this form of sports tourism attracts between 250,000 and 300,000 golfers who visit the country annually, generating a significant economic impact that exceeds US$400 million.

Bahia Principe Golf’s association with the PGA of America not only demonstrates its dedication to expanding the community of golf enthusiasts but also its focus on excellence in teaching and the continuous improvement of players’ skills.

“At Bahia Principe Golf, our goal is to offer a world-class golf experience where the passion for the sport is combined with the natural beauty of the Caribbean environment,” said Carlos de Linares, CEO of PGA Ocean’s 4.

Also, de Linares highlighted that last January, PGA Ocean’s 4 from Playa Nueva Romana joined the stand of the Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism (Mitur) for the first time, promoting the country as a golf destination at the PGA Merchandise Show, Held at the Orlando Convention Center. This collaboration is another example of boosting tourism in the region and strengthening the country’s position as a leading destination in the golf industry.

Sports Tourism: Golf Between the Sea and Lakes

The PGA Ocean’s 4 golf courses, strategically located overlooking the sea, are designed to take advantage of a varied topography with multiple levels and slopes, which gives them a distinctive character and adds an extra level of challenge to the game experience.

Bahia Principe Golf has two impressive golf courses in Playa Nueva Romana, totaling 27 holes. One of them, with 18 holes par 72, is designed for intermediate and advanced players. The other, with 9 holes par 27, is designed for beginners or those who are just starting in the sport.

The 18-hole course stands out for its variety and modernity, masterfully designed by Maverick Golf. This course, the second official “Championship course” developed by Grupo Piñero, presents four styles of holes in different environments. From holes surrounded by lakes and waterfalls like Parkland to those bordering the Caribbean Sea with a touch of Links, and finally, landscapes with large rocks and sand like Desert.

It also has a 9-hole par 3 golf course, created to provide fun and challenge to players of all levels. With holes ranging from 100 to 200 meters in length, in just one hour, golfers will be able to complete the entire course and enjoy golf in a more accessible and relaxed way, forgetting about strict etiquette and complicated golf rules.

In addition, the greens, the areas where the hole is located, are characterized by being of the highest quality in terms of speed and the way the ball rolls on them, providing a perfectly maintained surface for golfers.

Tourists who travel to the country have multiple reasons for doing so, but golfers in particular praise the service and the excellent condition of the course.
